MODERN TIMES: does PROGRESS always entail PROGRESS? Learning about working conditions on the assembly line

Tableau1: monotonous, repetitive, tedious working conditions for workers on the moving belt.

Tableau2: workers are demonstrating against bad working conditions and unemployment.

Tableau3: representing authority, here the police- the tramp is protecting the famished girl from potential arrest after she stole a loaf of bread.

Tableau4: representing poverty for the girl's family.
