5°1&2: exclusive reports from our visit of the Vienna International School!

Our visit at the VIS

On Thursday 25th January, our English class went to the Vienna International School to visit Mr.
Oudart’s class which we already met a few months ago.
We left from school at 9:30 am and took the bus and the underground to Kagran.
When we arrived to the VIS, we went to Mr. Oudart’s class. We were divided into groups of
three Lycée pupils who were joined by two VIS pupils. In these groups they guided us through the
building, showed us the library, the sports fields, the music and the art rooms, the science laboratories and
finally the school kitchen. I was really surprised by the huge range of facilities and activities available at this school in comparison with a lack of facility space at our school.
Afterwards, we went back to the classroom and ate a cake called “galettes des rois” aka a king’s
cake.
At the end of our visit, we sat together in the same groups and made a quiz about famous
characters. I chose my idol Michael Phelps and Hawi found it out after having asked me a few questions about my character.
The visit to the VIS was a very nice experience because I got to know nice persons and I was
impressed of the dimension and the facilities of this school like for example the five sports fields.
To put it in a nutshell, it was an interesting and entertaining morning.

                                                     VIS: SUMMARY

This Thursday we went to Vienna International School (VIS) to meet new people and to visit their school.

First of all, it is an American school so all of us had to speak English with the other pupils. When we arrived there, my first impressions were that it is a very big school and I felt like I was in America. Everything had that American style!

At the entrance a very nice man that also spoke French told us to come with him and a few minutes later we arrived in a classroom. Then, some other pupils came and our teacher told us to build groups. I knew one of the girls, Rosa, because she dances at the same ballet academy as me. There were two other girls but I cannot remember their names. Next, we left the classroom and the girls showed us the whole school except Primary school:

First, we saw the library but it isn’t that different from the one in the Lycee. Second, they showed us numerous different classrooms:

Science, Art,… After that we saw the gym which is really big and in total the shoot has three gyms! Finally, we went outside. There was a very big sports yard where they can play soccer and run during PE. After that we came back to the classroom and ate „ The King´s Cake“; we played a few games and we started to talk more with each other.

I think that it was a very nice trip and in my opinion it is an amazing school. They have more Art classes and sport. Next week, they are going to go skiing together which is very cool. I really enjoyed visiting their school and I hope we will all meet again.

My visit at the VIS

One of this school year’s highlights was our visit at the VIS. It is an English speaking school in the 21st district of Vienna.

How did we get there?
Our English class first took the 40A to get to the underground station“Schottentor”. We got onto the U2 and the U1 to go to “Kagran”. From there, weonly needed 5 min. to arrive at the Vienna International School.

What did we do at the VIS?
At the beginning we looked for the classroom where Mr. Oudart’s class was waiting for us. After the 2 groups had got to know each other, we were split into little teams. 2 pupils of the VIS guided us through the whole building. Then we returned to the classroom to eat a piece of “Galette des rois”, a typical French pastry. It was homemade by Mr. Oudart, who had taken the trouble to prepare it for this special occasion. After the snack, we got into small groups again to play some games. First everyone chose a character who the others had to guess by asking questions. Then we played “grapevine”, an activity in which a message is whispered from person to person. Finally we got back to the LFV.
How did I like the excursion?
This excursion was very interesting. The VIS is different from the LFV: It is huge and very well equipped. For instance, the computers are really modern. In addition, they even have a 3D printer. All this increases the pupils’ motivation and creativity. I hope we will soon do a similar activity again.

Visit to the VIS

On the 25th of January, we went to the VIS (Vienna International School) with our English class. It is in the 20th district, so we first travelled with the 40a, then with the U2 and finally with the U1. At the school, we directly went to a French class where Mr Oudart, a French teacher from the VIS, and his class were waiting for us. We made groups and the pupils showed us their school. My group was composed of Laura, Manon, Roza (Laura’s and Manon’s friend from the ballet), another Rosa and me. We saw the library, which looks a bit like our “CDI” and the basement, where the lockers are. They are big compared to ours. We also saw their canteen, which is also a bit bigger than at the Lycée. They can buy their food right there and can eat everything they want. Then, Roza showed us their sports halls. There are some many of them and they even have a huge basketball and football pitch. Roza explained that they have 4 hours sport per week. Finally, we returned to the classroom where we ate a “Kings Cake” that Mr Oudart had baked. Afterwards, we played the game where someone thinks of a character and the others have to ask questions to find who it is. We also did an “interview” to know more about the others. When we finished, we spoke about the differences between our schools. They have school between 8h30 AM and 3h30 PM and one period is only 40 minutes! They were very outgoing and sociable, so it was easy to com e into the conversation and some people exchanged their telephone number to stay in touch. In general, I really enjoyed this visit!

Our trip to the VIS

Today we went to the VIS. First we went by train and then by foot. When we entered the school I was really impressed! There were so many people and everyone spoke in English! After our arrival it rang and while we waited in a classroom, students came inside. I saw Roza a friend of mine. She showed us her school which is extremely big! There are so many playgrounds for the kids and gymnasiums! I also found the primary school area really nice. Everywhere there are colourful flags and smileys! The canteen was nice too and I was a bit jealous about all their possibilities! After this we ate a galette made by Roza´s French teacher. Later we played games together and I was really disappointed and sad when our English teacher announced us, that we have to leave the school. I really enjoyed this trip and I wish that we could do it again!

BENJAMIN

Last week my class and me went to see the VIS school, which I was very impressed by because it was much more cleaner and looked like it was fairly new in contrast to our school. To me it looked like a typical american school from the movies. I reckoned that there went more kids to this school. The teachers that we met on the way to the class were very friendly but some kids stared at us like we were a big group of outsiders which was a little bit strange. We went inside the classroom and made groups with the other new kids. The kids from the VIS school showed us many cool things, for example their gym that was about three times bigger than ours and was divided into three parts. Then we went to the primary secsion which was smaller - compared to the part for the older kids. Afterwards we went to their William Kirk theater. Then they showed us their art and music classes. In the music classes were many instruments like pianos and violins. Later we went to their basement where the lockers were which were bigger than ours. The last hour of our visit we spent in a classroom. We met new friends and it was a lot of fun to compare our schools and our teachers.

I think that the VIS is a good school and that it could be a good example for ours. I don' t know about the eductaion but I was impressed how big it was and how many facilities there are. I would like that the Lycee would be like the VIS.

My visit to the VIS
On 25th January we visited the Vienna International School.
I really enjoyed the trip, because I was very impressed of the school.
I liked visiting the theater. They also have a 3D printer and so many sportgrounds.
I remember that they have two soccer grounds, two basketball grounds and one massive
gym hall.
Compared to my school the VIS is better, because for me the people are nicer there, the
school building is more modern and I like the <american school feeling> there.
I was really surprised that they have their own theatre.
But what I enjoyed the most is that I made two new friends: Maggie and Julia. They showed us the VIS and took us around.
We also played the "guess who I am" game. It was really funny, because Benjamin chose Michelangelo from Ninja Turtles and nobody guessed it.
After the game we ate the "gallette des rois"; and in my piece of the cake I found the little
figurine, which made me the king.

Our visit at the VIS

Last Thursday we visited the VIS , it took us aproximatly twenty minutes to get there.
When we arrived we were devided into groups of five, three pupils of the Lycee and two of the VIS. I didn´t remember the names of our group members but I remember that they were very kind. We played with them "Find who I am" or "Chinese Whisper".They also guided us around the school , where we saw the sports fields which were utterly spacy. We also could see the gym hall where the pupils could play in the break. They also showed us other places like the kitchen or the library. I was surprised that they had a design center , small classes and a school building which looked like a prison (because it was made out of bricks, surrounded by a fence and because we had to show our visitor passport at the entrance) and because everyone had an apple computer.

In conclusion I found that the trip to the VIS was nice, but I have to say that I am prefering the Lycee to the VIS , because I heared the French level of the pupils and the German level
of Austrians in the VIS . Plus I´d like to add that the VIS has a subject where they have to cook is remarkably.
